Cones of yarn
« on: November 10, 2011, 12:05:24 am »
Some years ago I was given boxes of yarn, mostly 4ply on cones from a friend whose machine-knitting wife had dies.  I've used bits now and again but fairly half-heartedly until I joined TAS.  Now I'm knitting crazy.  I have a waistcoat for me on hold while I make a matinee jacket for my new granddaughter due next month but that is now on hold.  I want to knit pocketed scarves for my older granddaughters for Christmas.  The pattern says super chunky yarn and I figure that equates to about 8 strands of four ply.  I have spent this evening winding the yarn into balls then winding two or three balls together.  Wish I still had my spinning wheel, then I could have plied them together.
