Hello,

We have very little as the goats tend to eat them (Saanen cross's). Our Tamworths also root them up (in normal behaviour) or gather them for building nests for farrowing. Unless you want to re-cultivate the land I'd go the goat route first.

Cheers

Rushes are generally a sign of bad drainage. Land drains are very costly, and rushes always have a tendancy to come back, unless the roots are destroyed (according to my father-in-law). Best follow Gavins advice and get some goats or Tamworths onto the land. It's the cheaper alternative!

Ring the dept of agriculture and get a pig herd number first.....then go to the pig section and read till the whites of your eyes go red...you'll have learned a lot, but you can't beat the hands-on experience.

Hi and welcome.  If you can get two or three tamworth weaners, feed them well, dont be disappointed if it takes them a little while to get going, suddenly you start to see earth, then you see nothing but earth.  They are amazing clearance machines.
