'ello from 'ampshire
« on: October 07, 2011, 08:13:46 pm »
Hi,I am hopeful of renting a few acres near me soon and then achieving a life long dream of keeping a few sheep.
I haven't acquired any yet, and I'm still undecided on a breed although "Dartmoors" are most likely. I am currently trying to source all the bits and pieces I will need and then the plan is to pick up some lambs/ lambs and ewes in the Spring.
I have also been buying books off Amazon and just booked myself on a "sheep course". I have also been reading a lot of the posts in the forum which have been very useful. Thank you to all those who have directly/indirectly helped me already and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you all.

Hello and welcome from north Cumbria

Looking forward to hearing about your adventures - and yes, seeing the pics!
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Hi from Darzet!
I think Dartmoor sheep are an excellent idea - as long as they're Greyfaces!
Not every day is baaaaaad!
Pedigree Greyface Dartmoor sheep.
