I always knew there had to be folks with brains in the US  ;D I always have been a doubter of the holy cow called "growth". The planet is on the brink of collapse, where are economies supposed to grow to - Mars, the moon?? Trouble is that money rules the world, all virtual  :o OH suggested if Americans keep protesting the powermongers will shut the internet down - wait and see ;D :&>

A 6 minute vid takes 1/2 our to download here too - but well worth the wait.

Direct democracy - a phrases that hits home.  You cant complain about a system unless your part of it - its unfortunate, but its the case.

Wow - have there ever been more radical news???

Just grabbed a week-old newspaper - headlines: "Half of donors since election work in finance" and "biggest cash donations are from hedge funds". No comment.... :( :&>

Sh*t hitting the fan asside , i have just about cleared up the veggie plot after 20 cows got in and wiped out the lot !     Nothing left at all . If 'they' don't get you , nature will .                        No money and now now food !    Still, it could be worse , it could be nearly winter !

Thanks BR , I will scrape by somehow , always have , but if you see a posting from 'bagofbonesme' instead of 'rustyme' , things could be getting a bit iffy here !  Still got spuds in the ground , so should last a while yet .
On the upside , the cows did leave plenty of crap on the plot , "always look on the bright side of life ! ".  Chips & chips for din dins tonight , and tomorrow ......lol.

It is amusing that we are waiting for the Greek economy to collapse when the good old pound has dropped by about 25% in value without anyone getting upset. That means you and I have to pay another 25% for anything imported including fuel, food, electrical and other manufactured items and for any holidays and travel outside the UK.

Also, anyone foreign who has bought UK bonds, British businesses or hold sterling currency has also lost 25% of their cash.

To rub salt in the wound, VAT has increased.

And for anyone approaching retired (ME!), their expensive pension scheme has collapsed meaning 33% less spending money when we retire.

And the good news is...

Our banks are doing well!

Well, there is good news too.

The lower the pound is against the euro, the more the farm subisidies are (they are calculated in euros, so if the same number of euros buys more pounds, the farmers get more pounds.)

And the mainland Europeans buying our lamb buy it in euros, so again, as the pound weakens against the euro, the price of lamb being exported goes up and the farmer gets more for his / her lambs.  (And so do smallholders  :D)

My personal viewpoint is that anything that encourages us as a nation to buy more locally-produced services, goods and foods, the better.  Better for us and better for the planet.  Such a shame we manufacture very little these days...

Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
