I hope you don't get a HOT summer, my wife says it can be terrible when lugging around an extra couple of pounds. Hope all goes well for you both.

Congrats. Hope everthing goes well for you. Make the most of any pampering as it's lots of sleepless nights after the babys born. :D

Congratulations  ;D I am not going to give any advice - despite being a midwife as everyone will have an opinion on something. I would like to know about the sandwich meats. All I know is that you should not eat meats that have not been cooked so that includes cured meats and also liver - to that includes pate. Enjoy yourself, I had a September baby. Nice time to have one. Have the summer off and enjoy Christmas! If you want to ask anything that can't wait until you see your midwife you are welcome to PM me.

How do you pasteurise an egg without cooking it? ???
I think it's something to do with them being heat treated (maybe blasted with microwaves or something  ???), but I don't understand how it works either Annie
I'm a bit thick  ;D

Heck - I'm screwed then ! No more cooking for me ! I always thought it was fine as long as you washed your hands  :o
It'a amazing how the advice has changed through time. When my mum was pregnant with me (32 years ago) women were advised to eat liver, full of iron & good for the blood ! Something that's a total no-no now. How did people manage back in the 'old days' before all this new fangled research & technology ?  ;)

Heck the advice we got from doctors for our first son kept changing the more we had. All the advice we got the first time  was 'wrong' by the time we had the forth! By that stage, however, we knew what worked and what didn't...ya can't beat the 'ol bit of hands on experience!

How exciting!!! an addition to your growing stuff!!! you can now at least relax with your crafting and not feel guilty, a very good excuse to knit as well. I find it strange how now there are sooooooo many not to eat rules for pregnant women, I knew none of these when I was pregnant, the youngest of my three children being 30 this October, none of them had health problems although my eldest daughter has several allergies, also when babies start to eat solids, so many new rules on that too, I am truly amazed and wounder how much evidence medically there is? Crisps are very fatty...I just ate 2 bags and had given them up for months, when I eat them I usually feel very unhealthy so, best to keep off anyway....hope as your bump grows mine diminishes!!!  :-*

Congratulations! CSSA's first baby!!

Now, I have ropes, lubricating gel if you need to borrow it - I'll give the ropes a good boil before I pass them on... And can I have them back for  next Spring?

Can I frighten you ? Just a wee bit ?  ;D

One thing midwifes will tell you is not to panic - 'you'll know when you do go into labour'............................. I DIDN'T  :o
This resulted in a very hasty delivery in Ellon doctors surgery in Aberdeenshire, on the floor, with NO pain relief !!! But do you know what - it wasn't too bad (obviously it wasn't what I'd planned - just kind of happened!) and it's soon forgotten about, as is any negativeness/aches/pains etc as soon as you've got them in your arms. They could have cut off my leg there and then and I wouldn't have cared - I had my baby !
Second time round (on Xmas day of all days!) I definately knew what was going on - just as well I hear you say ;) My waters broke at 11.30am and Kaitlin was born just a little late for lunch at 1.30pm - quick, fairly easily and in the living room ! (pre-arranged this time after 1st times chaos)

You'll get told lots of horror stories (I think people enjoy terrifying 1st time mum's :-\) As long as you know what's happening to your body at each stage and why I think it makes it easier to deal with - plus it's all over in a relatively short space of time. Do plenty research and you'll feel calmer and more in control and you'll be fine.
After all - if it was that bad, no-one would ever have more than 1 child, and plenty do.
If you've not checked it out yet - this is quite a good site
