I agree it does look like a black copper Maran or maybe evener a blue copper maran, not 100% sure though.  ::)

it might be a bit early to tell but I'd say girl, too. And possibly Black Rock? Just because I don't know any other breeds that colour, to be honest   ::) ::)

What age is it - that might give us a better clue as to sex, but looking at comb and wattles I'd say a hen too.

blue haze bred fom a road island red and a blue marran will be a good egg layer ,did you get much from the sale on saterday .

not sure of her age as I got her with a batch of cream legbar chicks about 3 months ago.  Didn't get any poultry on Saturday but did get a  self black Soay ram lamb.  Thanks for all the replies folks  :)

Looks a like some of those blue belles, the ybrids (not sure what they are a hybrid of. Or a blue maran would be a good shout. I'll give you evens that is a hen rather than a cock... if it lays an egg i'll give you 2:1 its a hen!
It's always worse for someone else, so get your moaning done before they start using up all the available symathy!

i don't know either, but i've got one exactly like it and she lays enormous dark brown eggs!

Definitely a pullet and very pretty whatever went into her breeding.
