Replacements for stolen birds - West Berks
« on: February 21, 2009, 06:31:41 pm »
Thanks to the thieves who stole my breeding boys last night, I have a choice - either I give up for the year - or I ask if anyone can help me to restock and move on.

I need to replace my Light Sussex, Cuckoo Maran and my (oh so beautiful) Red Sussex cockerels. I don't want show quality, I'm more into big utility boys.

If anyone can help, please let me know.

Many thanks.

That happened to Andrew and Janis up here in Scotland.  I can't think why anyone would want to steal chickens - they can't be THAT hungry surely! Good luck with the restocking.

Why do people steal hens?  Are they sold on for breeding or is it more for the pot, sorry cant put this as delicately as the topic needs, I really dont understand why anyone would take such risks.  Having said that I am so very sorry for anyone who has lost a beloved bird, it must be heartbreaking.

Same sentiments though from a great distance!  It's that Entente Cordiale again I suspect!

They didn't take any hens, pullets or young stock - only cockerels - must be a big fight on somewhere around here soon!!

The community police officers called today - as expected they have no chance of finding my boys and they wandered off in the other direction when I suggested where they look!

And I live in a posh area!

That's awful. The pot would be better.
