smelly boot remedy

Anyone got a cure for very smelly wellies and walking boots. Have tried soaking the wellies in washing powder but smell is back. I know prevention is better than cure - but too late (17 year old male  ;D )

Try putting one of those tumble drier sheets into each boot overnight.  It has worked with my 18 year old son's wellies - and his trainers for a short while before having to do it again.

Worth a try.

Good luck  :)

Or a handful of charcoal (remember to empty them though!)

What I do with trainers is to put a really good dollop of the highly perfumed fabric conditioner inside each trainer, let them soak and swill it round before putting them through a normal wash with washing powder/gel. the fabric conditioner really soaks into the material and keeps them smelling sweet for weeks. Not sure if this would work with wellies...you could try a variation though!

Ermmmm, you could do the same with your feet....ducking and hiding  ;D ;D ;D

I was told its best to alternate shoes, if they are constantly being wet and warm from feet, bacteria can breed and smell, I do this but still have smelly feet, also always wear absorbant socks, bare feet in shoes or wellies makes it all worse. I don't do this anymore as I have given up, But a foot wash using garlic and vinegar is good and suppose to work, mind you, the place smells like a French chip shop!!! Funny to see this as I just read on Facebook my daughter moaning about her smelly feet!!!

Wash feet in vinegar and garlic

Alternate foot wear and make sure where they are stored air gets to them

Wear absorbant, cotton type socks

Now off to wash MY smelly feet...good job they are a long way from our noses!!

Ooops - just noticed it was walking boots you were asking about too! take the linings out and treat with the conditioner stuff but let it dry in. ET

I used to suffer quite badly spending all day on my feet (and I mean all day, 16 hours stood in the same pair of shoes)
I found a spray with anti-bacterial kitchen surface cleaner after use sorts them out. Keeps them smelling fresh most the day.

Sandy I tried your suggestion of alternating shoes but I found they didn't fit properly, I kept on tripping over and it didn't sort the smell ;D ;D

make a paste from good old bicarbonate of soda and rub it in. Leave to dry over night and brush off next morning. It even works on cat wee, so there is a chance  ;D :&>

Do any of the above work on smelly slippers as well?
