...what time in the mornings do you get up & go about your smallholding routines? I'm a real early bird, (well 6amish) and bright & breezy in the mornings, slumping towards the end of the afternoon, husband on the otherhand really bad in the mornings, sooo difficult to get out of bed, but full of beans in the afternoon/evening. I usually head off down the plot and open up/water etc & back before he's even had breakfast! (he gets to shut everything up in the evening!) Just curious as to what other's routines are!?

im not a morning person and am more likely to work outside til midnight in summer. and i just dont function without coffee!

My dogs, my hens and my ducks know perfectly well not to wake me before 8.30 am, and I give them all a night night cuddle about midnight!

I leave for work about 7:25am, or 6 if I'm walking in.
I do a visible check on the livestock, top up water if the goats have kicked it / mucked it etc.
I see to the cats & dog.

Husband is a late riser, he "potters" round them, depends on his health as to how much gets done.
we do the final feeds etc when I'm home, they deliberately dont have a set time or order, so they are flexible (ish!)
what I really mean is, the ducks & pigs and one of the guinea pigs just make noise until they are fed, the goat will bleat for milking (feeding!) if she feels its time.

we can be out till late, planted stuff at 9pm last night!
weekends and holidays, it can vary.  sometimes very early, or quite late

Tend to be out and feeding by 8am. Calves get milk first, then milk the goats, then feed everything else after. We run a B&B so one of us does the breakfast and the other the feeding/milking, we take it in turns.
I'm more of a morning person, better half is good at evenings but in the summer we're both likely to be working outside till 9 or 10pm if it's dry.

Up at 5.30, out of the house at 6.15, feed and water the animals then in work for 7am.

7.45 school term, any longer in the holidays is luxury

Well, the Kunes let themselves out of bed but the goats have to wait till I'm up and about, chasing the kids around to make sure they're ready for school - that's about 8:30am. That's also when they both get their breakfast feed, and then round it off by letting the chickens out before taking the kids off to school.

7.30 for me. Any later and I'm consumed by guilt. I'd love a decent lie in, never going to happen with five cockerels on the property!

Lucky to be out of bed by 9 - always get cheeky remarks off people when I hang my bleary head out the window when they knock - but am pretty sure non of them would appreciate a call when I hit the sack after working on the PC late into the night.

I'm an early riser.  5am for me, hubby doesn't do mornings!

I help with milking at the farm opposite then back here to feed and water the pigs and chickens.  Usually in bed by 9.30pm though......I'm not a late night person.

Usually up at 5.30 which is a bummer in the winter as it doesn't get light up here until 9.30 But this time of year when the sun is shining and the sea is so blue, I love to be up and about as early as possible.

I'm the early bird....... get up about 6, go out and feed/let out and water chickens (two lots) and turkeys (both lots) say good morning to sheep and pigs......(check their water) ..pigs usualyy not up then cos they know OH feeds them when he gets up at 9!!!! I'm off to work by 7 15am
OH doesn't do mornings....... he potters about all day doing the cleaning etc and then i help when get home from work (about 6)
he puts them away at night....
In winter it changes depending on the light....... don't get to see them when i'm at work

Weekdays whole household up at 6.30am and out the door to feed up at 7am, Oh goes to work at 7.30 and i potter about doing odd jobs until i go to work a bit later. We're normally in bed by 9.30pm and sometimes earlier.
weekends we allow ourselves a lie in until 8am!! and we might even stay up until 10
having a small holding means theres no rest for the wicked and i must say i must have been wicked in a past life, mega amount of grass cutting to do this weekend and the forecast certainly doesn't look like the weather is going to be helpful.

I'm a lark too - usually up at 6 unless I've had a restless night in which case it can be 7 or so..

Now I don't have to commute (which often meant up and out at 530 as I had ponies to check 4 miles away at that point) I usually get a cup of tea first thing and wander out with it to do first checks if the weather is dry  

Usually 11ish is coffee time and that keeps me going into the afternoon but by teatime I'm losing motivation and energy big time and tho I'll potter down the field and back up to 10pm I am often in bed by then if not before..  Any coffee after lunchtime and I won't sleep so I try and get a good head start in the mornings
