The wild birds around here are REALLY wild, because I don't feed them!  ;D
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

I love feeding them - although Dan has restricted me to filling the bird feeders once a day (even with 11% off). As well as hunners of starlings and spuggies, we've got blackbirds, beautiful thrushes, goldfinches, chaffinches, yellowhammers, green woodpeckers, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, bramblings, the odd bullfinch, wrens (my favourite). The feeders just throng in the morning.

We always bought bird food as well until Steve lost his job, now they have to fight over the crumbs of left over cake ::)
(If I have not eaten it all)
One thing that was funny was putting some of those Lard Balls in the trees, within less than 30 min, the garden was FULL of starlings and the fat balls demolished..not buying them again!!!
We get a fair few birds and have a pair of resident doves that sit (and s*it) over our seating area and its sweet to think they are almost pets along with our chickens and dogs.
We we get rich again, I will buy bird food as I love watching birds!!

Without feeding them at all I have sparrows (saw about 6 of them together the other day) goldfinches, greenfinches, blackbirds, wagtails, crows, magpies, and any number of fat lazy pigeons that you could want in a pigeon pie!  I send the dogs out to chase them - I've lost a load of lovely plants out the back to them!  They are most definitely NOT getting any food from me! ::) >:( >:( >:(
