Get deosan deosect (dilute it to instructions)put in a container and sponge lightly over your horse (Also gets rid of bothersome flies in  summer)Also works on chickens, goats etc...should carry on working for many weeks

I thought you had to get deosect from a vets £££

I use Spot-On, which you pour 5-30ml (depending on species/size as it also treats sheep/cattle) on the withers and walk away, no wiping over but it can create a wee oily mark.

You can get it at any country store/agri merchant or is often cheaper online from places like hyperdrug and is available without prescription.

we used deosect, must have bin £50 for a bottle from vet but diliutes well so more economical in long run than powders. u have to get every inch of the pony then repeat when required. its much easier to eradicate lice in the summer so make the effort to get them away cos in a winter coat they are a nightmare. using deosect bans u from eating the horse for human consumption for life so it must be potent. :o :o it lasts a month for flies so its handy to use. use it in a sprayer and u dont need to bath her...and dilute it accurately cos it must stingy if too strong and they go bonkers!
we use it on every new arrival as we learnt the hard way once, and when one pony infects 20 others its not funny, i think id passed it on through my gloves as it was winter, and long shaggy coats are ideal for critters to hide in. definitely works tho.
