Young fella m'lad is about to be separated from the girls as we don't want him dating until November.

Have had no luck getting hold of a wether to go with him (still searching) so he will be in sep field on his own. He can see the girls as they will be on the other side of the fence.

Before I move him is there anything I need to know / do?

From my point of view only, I would find him a companion to be with, you will find that he will prob press himself up against the fence nearest the girls and will look a bit sad on his own. depends on his temprement, i have 2 boys and 4 wethers in one field away from the girls and I have one entire  lamb whiich looks a cracker and I will have to seperate him in August I dont think I have any worries prior to August.

Ta for the reply Andy. I've been searching for a wether for him but to no avail. He's been trying to be a bit of a 'stud' practically since the day he was born so I daren't leave him in there until I find one, so I have no choice but to move him on his own.

Your right, its 'needs must' sometimes, he needs to get out

 - But I wouldnt give up hope of finding him a pal - even if its another animal like a pony or horse for the time being.

One thing I would watch out for in the first few days is if he is trying to get back into the flock.  Sheep tend to get their heads stuck in the strangest places and if shagging is on the menu he'll try pretty hard to get through a hole in a fence that to a human is obviously smaller than his body, he may get stuck.

I'd find him a companion too.

The tup lamb we bought last year has become overly 'friendly' with us as a result of having no-one else in with him. And at 80+kg now, that's become less than funny to the point that we're selling him a year early cos he's so hard to handle. Lovely, yon side of a fence, but dangerous now when I'm in with him.

The farmer down the road said he thought it was having no-one else in with him, although he was often just a stock fence away from the girls.
