Well, an update from my friend is as follows:

  • She can't do the dominance-reinforcing in a race.  Whatever her own views, the race rules disallow it and she would be disqualified.
  • She is going to look into getting a racing greyhound-type muzzle.  These are allowed by race rules, and although she thinks the dog will still jump at her, she would, she says, at least not be in (so much) pain and be able to think clearly!
  • She thinks the idea of training a really solid Stop command is a good one and she is going to do that
  • She is still seeking a failed or retired trailhound as her next CaniX dog

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
