When to wean heb lambs
« on: June 05, 2011, 10:03:54 pm »
Hi all

This being our first year of having lambs a question roughly at what age are they weaned, lambs were born end of march and are a good size eating lots of grass and mix,so when do i wean them?
Fleecewife 1 of the ewe lambs is 4 horned will post a pic tomorrow.
I'm not in any hurry to wean them just that i have had some sheep for sale in our local paper for the last week and not a single phone call so would like to advertize the lambs asap with an expected weaning date to see if there is any interest.

Hi Karen   See my answer to Rosemary's 'weaning questions' which seems to cover what you are asking.  My Hebs are born in April and we wean them about mid August, although this year we have 3 later lambs which will stay on a couple of weeks longer - they are all ewe lambs anyway so no danger of highjinx  :o.

Look forward to seeing the photo  :) :sheep:
