I can absolutely say that I have never never EVER heard a farmer say, "The weather could simply not be bettered"    ;)
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

I've lit the fire here for the first time in months as the house is so cold, the wind is howling in the windows and it has been raining nearly all day.  Even now I am cold with a jumper and very thick lined alpaca cardy on.

Re your comment about farmers, years ago my mum said to someone - I expect you are pleased it has stayed so dry for the harvest.  Aye - said he, but the hops need rain ;D ;D

Aberdeenshire - we've had a bit of rain, water but half full but the wind today .... They plowed the field to the side and below up, did a lot of work and eventually planted tatties last week - today it's like living in the middle east in a sand storm or should I say dirt storm - it's dry so the goats are happy though - if it rains the ducks will be happy so always someone happy

The wind here is scary - trees all round the house are moving and the noise is dire - last time it was like this I lost a 60' tree in 3 pieces right beside the house :o and I'm meant to be going out this evening but can't say I'm keen to drive even in the Landie :(

The rain was torrential all morning but is "just" showers now fortunately but I too have lit the fire for the first time in ages..

Sods law this morning in said torrential rain and howling gales my stallion flattened a 5 bar gate and went for my old gelding in the next paddock - I got them separated but had to get him back, fend off the 2 mares who were interested in moving field, get the 14' gate back on by myself and then roll out yet another bale to the back field - it's nearly June for goodness sake :( why am I still soaked, covered in mud, rolling bales out and coming in to light a fire?  :-\

We have not had any decent rain for over two months now, just sprinkles that dont even wet the ground, parched is what we are!!! I am afraid the fruit on the trees probably wont swell unless we get a decent downpour for at least a few hours and no sign of that coming our way :(
