We watched Martin's Money on the TV not so long ago and he took a family shopping who were in the habit of spending around £130 a week. He cut that in half by buying  and planning meals for each day so nothing was wasted. His words were every houshold in the country throws out un used food still in its wrapping every week. We decided to give his advice a try and boy did it work so much so I told my friends and now they do it to. Saving money and the planet at the same time.

Superb, Russ!
It's the stockpot principle!

There's more food for thought here: I've seen parts of this book in a pps attachment, I don't know how I can share this with you all. Look at the book instead, maybe you can borrow it in the library or browse it in a good bookshop.

Thanks NFD,
I found the book you mention on google books.   The whole book isn't there , it is limited preview only , but there is a lot of it there to read. Enough to decide if you would want to by it or whatever.   We should be able to solve all the worlds problems with the information we can get off the WWW. ;D ::)

cheers

Can't remember where we were discussing recycling, but I asked Clacks Council what happens to all the stuff I carefully sort out and back came this reply:-

Quote
Please find attached a list of the destination of materials collected for recycling by Clackmannanshire Council.  It is saved as a file you can open in your web browser.

Each of the destinations will do different things with the materials.  For example glass will be reprocessed into new glass in Alloa.  Garden waste is composted at Stirling.  Plastics may be onward shipped to a plastic reprocessing facility, however there are no plastics facilities in Scotland therefore the material will be traded before it reaches a re-processor.

Link for destination list:
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
