High street bargains
« on: January 25, 2009, 10:37:14 am »
Thought it might be an idea to post any high street bargains to be had so we can all take advantage. not one off but genuine bargains.
Homebase yesterday had a new 'Grow your own range' I bought
Thornless Blackberries
Thornless Loganberries
Blueberry's
Raspberry's
All for £1.99 each, not a sale offer, this is the normal price but I should think at that price they will go fast.

Anybody spotted anything else?  :) :)

I picked up Tesco's basics toothpaste last week. Ingredients are the same as branded stuff but this cost me 47p!! The taste is really nice too.

I received my free fig tree on Saturday! It was only £ 3.99 for P&P. It's only 40 cm tall, but still a good offer!

Homebase again....  £9.99 for plum trees. I bought a victoria plum and another type of plum both 5 1/2 - 6 foot tall, look healthy so very pleased. The start of my mixed orchard.
Morrisons............ 8 large plastic pots for 99p. no drainage holes but easy to do yourself and a bonus as I am planning on selling cut flowers at the gate this summer and they will hold water beautifully, a perfect size and shape. :)

Watch out for the fruit trees at Lidl this Thursday (£ 3.99) and their seeds are good value, too (not organic) at about 20 % of mail order catalogue prices

Homebase again! Noted their "plant of the month" is fruit trees. Plum, Greengage, Apple (noted russet but I think other kinds too), Pear all priced £9.99. Not a bad deal. I'm thinking of gettng a Greengage myself.

Not Homebase this time.... Mole Valley farmers have Organic compost, (large bags the same size as large compost bags) on offer for £1.98 a bag instead of £6.99!!!!!! Going tomorrow to stock up with as much as my 4x4 will take, they also have organic suttons seeds for veg and herbs at 20% below the retail price. If we get organic seeds and organic compost and plant in pots can I sell the resulting produce at my gate as organic?  :-\

Lidls are doing their fruit trees again - £3.99 each.  Just bought a plum and a Bramley.  They're young and will be 2 years or so before they fruit (have had them before), but they are usually very healthy trees.
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
