Hello all.
« on: April 17, 2011, 01:39:03 pm »
At last I have found a forum which has a section for goatkeepers that isnt based in America.

I live in France, just over the Normandie border in the Pays de la Loire region. I have lived here for 6 years now, with my husband and 3 cats. We quickly acquired some chickens, only for eggs though, there is no way I could eat them, and we have recently bought 2 pygmy goats.

We adore the french way of life, although we still cant get used to all the shops closing for 2 hours at lunchtime, and almost no Sunday opening. Still, we live right in the middle of the countryside in a 300 year old cottage with one and a half acres of land, so I suppose you cant have it all! Hobbies include reading, cooking, looking after the animals and watching the box.

Any other forum members from this side of the channel?

Hello from worcestershire

we have chickens and goats, some bottle lambs, rabbits cats...oh and a noisy parrot.  I make goats milk soap when I'm not doing hands on animal or child care (ie. not as often as I'd like at the moment as its manically busy here!)

welcome to TAS  :)

Hi from Brittany.  You are very brave having goats considering all the paperwork and bureaucracy.  How do you find it all.  We keep pigs which are much easier paperwork wise.  Been here 9 years still loving it.

I believe that we have until they are six months old to get them registered. Im not looking foward to them getting their earrings though (tags) they will just look so gay!

Nice to speak to someone this side of the Channel. Have you been here long? We will have been here 6 years next week. Time has really flown!

Yes 9 years.  The fastest growing thing in France is definitely the bureaucracy.
