Tulip needs to meet a boyfriend now!! Daisy's pregnancy was an accident  so that scuppered our plan to bring the boar to us and having him cover both the girls.

I've been trying desperately to find somewhere that might take her  (I'm sure Daisy will have a fit if I bring a boar home so soon after she has farrowed ) since the saddleback we were due to use got sold last week 

Nowhere seems to do this, which I can understand, but it's getting later and later in the year and I'm not really up for October piglets!!

I am feeling very stressed about it (Tulip's not, she's just had 6 punnets of nectarines delivered from our neighbour  ).

Should I be worrying? What are the implications if she does not farrow this year? She is approx 13 months old.

IF you were leaving her to next year, there's a chance you wouldn't be able to get her in-pig, but it's not always the case - some pigs just do exactly their own thing and screw the rule book (ain't that right folks  )   
You've just got to weight up the costs of keeping her for another year against the possible loss if you can't get her mated/producing piglets. I'd be looking to give AI a try SOON in the absence of a boar (something is better than nothing ) or you run the risk (albeit a small one) of having a barren pig

Oh, an afterthought.............

There are livestock hauliers/couriers if you really want her to go to a boar, it might be worth making enquiries ?

I can transport her Karten, but everyone I've enquired with has advised me that they will not take her there ... grrrrr!

AI sounds scary but I will do some research (no doubt by inundating you with questions as always!!)

Where vaguely are you in the UK? What breed do you want or does it not matter?
There is a list of GOS boars for hire on the GOS website and also check BPA website,boars for hire are listed thee too. By the sounds of it you might be better trying to B&B her as opposed to bringing boyo to you.

I'm in Cornwall ... just to make it a bit more awkward! . Yes, I would like to her to go away for a few weeks and come home once Daisy and the piglets are settled in their paddock etc.

I have no preference with regard to breed, We were going to put her to a saddleback previously - they will all be fo the freezer so it doesn't make a huge amount of difference to us!

The saddleback association also has a list of boars for hire. There might be one near you that will take her.

On the GOS site there is an advert for a herd being sold near Liskeard, it might be worth giving them a call to see if they will hire out one of their boars.
