Female sheep farmer who works in the pig industry
« on: April 04, 2011, 10:57:32 am »
Hello,

A bit about me, well the family farm is sheep, we are just finishing the lambing.  Had a lot of triplets and quads this year so am a little tired ... lots of bottle feeding.  Farming being what it is today, I have to work full time as well.  So i work for a company who supplies equipment for pig farming.  I am 25, female and enjoy nothing more than being with the animals.

I have a few other animals, including horse, chickens, dogs and cats.

whoops, clicked post before I meant to!!  Anyway ... came across this site by chance and thought it looked perfect to share information with people.  I am always seeking advice for my little lambs, and hopefully I'll have some to offer for sheep and pigs, horses and poultry!
So hello everyone on accidental smallholder!

Hello and welcome from rainy and windy Falkirk!

Isn't it a shame we all need to work as well? I could so much more if I only didn't have to work!

Well, I actually joined to learn about pig farming but also to talk to fellow sheep farmers as we all experience problems, and someone else's experience is quite often a lot better (and cheaper) than any vet's advice.

I didn't join in my professional capacity.  Discounts are not in my area, just I can always ask ... it does usually depend on quantity though.  i have suggested we discount different items every month or so though .. so shall post any offers if that helps?

It is a shame I have to work.  i like nothing better than being on the farm with my animals, maybe that it a little selfish for a 25 year old, and I should work, but the farm is a lot of work!  It would run so much better if I could be there full time.  Luckily, I love my job though and the company I work for.  i couldn't ask for better people.
