What a Wonderful Day!
« on: April 02, 2011, 10:26:36 pm »
We have had such a superb day today at our place!

We are setting up a community farm on our six acres and had put out our first bits of advertising in the last week or so. Today, some of the existing members were planning to build a topbar hive so we invited everyone who had shown any interest in the project to come down and have a look around. The response was almost overwhelming. We were hoping to find eighteen families for this our first year, who wanted half a pig, a Christmas goose and lots of eggs in return for a small monthly subscription and at least am afternoon a month of volunteer work helping set the farm up for fruit and veg boxes next year. Everyone who came to visit signed up, some even brought along friends who also signed up! So we now basically full (holding one space back for a family that couldn't make it today)!

Its so inspiring to find out that other people share your dream! Can't wait for it all to become a little bit more like a reality...

That's great, Ben, and what a wonderful idea!  Making really good use of your land - and sharing it too.  I am sure it will go from strength to strength.  Good luck.

The little one is doing fine thanks - He's still at the feed, sleep, feed, sleep stage so can't cause too much trouble (yet!).

That's so encouraging. Well done.

There's a few of us locally talking about setting up a feed and fuel purchasing co-operative.
