Where do people get these from? Looking at sites online but no luck- do you have to approach BT or similar?
I see one in Brucklay's pics and they look great as play things!

Laying around all over the play round here. Most end up on the bonfire on Guy Fawkes Night.

They have them near us sitting idle outside the electrical supply place on our industrial estate...it's a good place to start.

Just the same as with pallets - there's thousands of them laying around rotting, until you ask somebody if you could have one or two for your pigs - then it's £10 each, plus £20 delivery plus VAT  :o

Dozens of pallets here, too. Likewise they end up in the same place come November.

OH is a joiner so came home from a job with it - I've been coveting one I can see from the road as we approach New Deer but not found a way to get to it yet - I would like a couple more and will try a local sparky and try - pallets we can get from Ellon but I'm alway a wee bit worried about wee legs getting trapped/stuck in them and the kids dash about a 20 mph

I burn them they're a pain (I'm an Electrician).

They all have "returnable refundable" printed on them, but nobody pays a deposit on them. Generally the bigger, solid wood, ones are returned to the cable suppliers. The smaller (plywood) ones are reused by electrical wholesalers, if they are clean.

Find your local electrical wholesaler (City Electrical Factors, Senate, Newey & Eyre, Edmundson Electrical, Denmans) and go and have a chat - avoid the busy time of first thing in the morning - they'll probably give you them for free (they have to pay to dispose of the dirty ones)

They are great, found a big one beside road and rolled it home, it makes a good potting table in the garden! Wish I could find more
