AHA, wrong!  It ISN'T a spaniel!!!  They are Hunter, Pointer, Retrievers (like German short hairs, Hungarian vizslas, Weimaraners, Italian spinoni etc - called the Continental Gundogs) - so you are half right!  They ARE French!

I have not been on here for a long time (no longer in Norfolk and not feeling such a newby) but I know the answer to this one.....
