Hello from Wiltshire
« on: March 17, 2011, 08:16:00 pm »
Just wanted to introduce ourselves, we live in Salisbury, Wilts and have a very small smallholding.
We set up last year and keep sheep and pigs and also have been keeping chickens & ducks for the last 4 years.

We are looking for other smallholders to chat to, ask advice where needed and also people in our local area to share the cost of things like vaccines, wormer etc.

Best wishes

Welcome from t'North.  I lived in Wiltshire for many years, but right in the North West corner - a long way from Salisbury.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Hi, we're in Landford between salisbury and southampton. we have pigs, sheep and various poultry. we moved to our smallholding 3 years ago, a very steep learning curve! Nice to see some people so close to us on this site. we start lambing a week today and the weather man says it's not raining, hooray!
Hope to chat to you, Helen and Glenn

We only had 4 lambs this year, one ewe was barren and another died just before she lambed :(  We have a mixed bag of sheep really, an ouessant cross ewe, a Gotland cross, a Texel cross and two Dorset crosses.  Our pigs are Gloucester old Spots.

Nice to hear from you all.
