Does anyone remember an episode of 'How Clean is your House' with Kim and Aggie which showed how to remove the stain and smell of pet urine?
Our dog has wee'd on the corner of my sons bed, not for the first time unfortunately. I think he does it as a sort of scent marking and he's worse when his girlfriend is in 'season' or just had pups. She had the pups yesterday and I'm dreading the next few weeks.
I've cleaned the worst with 1001 Pet Stain Remover, but seem to remember that the Kim & Aggie method removed old stains as well.Can anyone give any tips please?

I always use a vinegar water mixture, with a splash of Zoflora too!
the vinegar neutralises the urine and cancels the urge to revisit the spot....

My boy does that too, and as a result there is a stain on my hall carpet.  Can't get it removed at all and it has changed colour from cream to almost orange.  He is now restricted to the kitchen (laminate is easier to mop up) when I am not within reach of him or my water pistol.

We used to have a little Patterdale terrier and I had an Ikea large fluffy rug that looked a bit like grass and when you walked over it you found little wee puddles, I spent a fortune washing with all the products mentioned, we bought plastic carpet covers and wee pads (he wee'd on them then ripped them up) When we moved I took out the rug (it was expensive too) and the Amonia smell could have brought someone out of a coma, so we had to throw it away, thats the only answer, I trawled the internet and looked in pets shops etc for the solution but everything seemed to make it worse, just have to throw the wee wee bit away and prevent the dog getting any where that it may wee......I bet hospitals and O P homes, hostles etc have the same problem, I use bleach for outside and the bathroom and that seems to de oderise rather than smelly things...good luck!!!!

Not sure if it's the same for dog wee but for cat's you should clean using a biological washing powder.  Apparently that neutralizes the smell therefore they don't go back to it.

Smell is easy - bicarbonate of soda.     It's the stain that's difficult to remove.  So unless I am with him with my water pistol at the ready Allez stays in the kitchen.

White vinegar removes the smell well. You should avoid bleach or anything with amonia in as this causes the dog to want to cover the smell by going again...hth

I do. It was soda water poured onto the wee, and then a dry absorbent cloth put down and stood on to soak it up. I think they did four or five applications and it pretty much cleaned and neutralised it.

avoid anything with ammonia in , as ammonia smells just like pee to dogs , thats why they go back and pee again every time you use it  !!!
 Not sure if they do now anywhere , but ammonia used to be made out of stale pee . It was collected in piss pots in towns by night soil men . They used to collect all the crap and pee from out houses and pubs etc at night . The crap was taken away and used to manure market gardens and farms near the cities , and the pee was used to make ammonia for cleaning purposes and to use in the dyeing process and many other things .

Russ, you remind me of my brother, full of interesting information. Now thats recycling for you!!!! We have had the odd occasion of people weeing their beds and then I put on loads of Bicarb as that also absorbs the liquid, we only use the bleach for the floor and the yard outside as that seems to clear the smell, a lot of men miss the bowl so we have to sanitise around the toilet all the time, if we put vinegar down it would smell like a chip shop!!

A couple of well used sayings came from that

Piss poor - the poor sold there urine to survive

Not a pot to piss in - this was the poorest of poor that couldn't even afford the pot so they couldn't sell there urine hence they stayed very poor
