hello all
new to site so first of all hello
im a pig keeper on a small scale and rear pigs to sell for meat, all outdoors and rare breed only.
usually sell in quarters
im in the process of building a website and could do with some facts about shitty pork.
for example

how muh do we import?
the laws of keeping factory farmed pigs in uk.
the lies about "free range" and "organic"
anything really that will help as im trying to make people realise why we charge more for ours
and prove that big supermarkets lie to us

probably a long shot but worth a go as i hate the way it is

Hi. In my opinion, folks much prefere to bee sold the possotives of what you are selling, rather than the negetives of what you are not . Certainly, I would suggest, that a website that was based on calling the opposition product "shitty", would do your own sales no good at all.
Not meaning any offence, just my limited sales/purchasing experience.

 :)i agree we sell our by explaining its + side ie old fashioned pork with fat works well as does the taste of pork you remember your gran cooking anyone looking for premium pork will know supermarket pork is poor quality without being told and if they think its good i would not sell them my pork as its wasted on them

im just going to say a few facts
i sell my pork quite well but do get asked how mine is different
not in taste but rearing
its amazing how many people dont know
im looking to expand and thought id also explain some of my customers questions on a website

at a time where british pigs farmers are loosing money and closing down if we go bad mouthing them we will end up with more and more imported pork from pigs with low low welfare standards. i have been in and seen some british pig units, whilst they are not how we keep our pigs they are a million miles away from some in the eu.

i approached bepex and they supplied some leaflets to read and hand out i also let any buyers have a copy of the breeds write up from the bpa so they know the breeds history.

the biggest selling point imo is letting people visit the pigs and see for themselfs that speaks volumes imo.

mainly recipe's for pork

i also promote british sausage week and bacon week both supported by bepex i do these through ladies in pigs.
i go in local butchers handing out posters etc.too.
ladies in pigs also have some fantastic recipie booklets

Why not suggest people come and have a look at your set up, see a real free range pig etc.  Offer free tasting?  For "shitty" pork production try looking on the internet at some of the ex eastern european pig production to say nothing of Danish.  Disgusting.  Please if you do this make it clear that British standards are far far higher than these.

the danish pig producers are suffering as well    the weaner's are sold to the eastern Europeans  losing out to processing in there plants
i don't think the best way to promote your pork and production methods is by lambasting others even if they don't comply with our welfare standards afterall we live in a global economy

my first and foremost is not being lied to.... which we are every time we buy meat from a supermarket.
i disagree with bad standards but disagree more with packaging bad standard " shitty pork " as 100% british
or organic or free range
its a joke how they get away with it
why not make it public on my own website. After all we all work so hard to produce quality pork.

I agree with many comment already posted, I may not exactly approve of intensive farming, BUT, id far rather we ate English intensive farming than imported!

I think anyone, large or small has a vested interest in getting THAT point home first and foremost.

Sell the sizzle not the steak, oldest saying in the world!
