Wanted: OSB boar or semen, NW England / Scottish Borders
« on: February 20, 2011, 06:50:49 pm »
I will be wanting to breed my lovely purebred but unregistered Oxford Sandy & Black gilt soonish, ideally would like a purebred litter, intending to sell all but two as weaners, fatten one and keep the best gilt on as a breeder herself.
Anyone got or know of an Oxford Sandy & Black boar in trailering distance of Carlisle?  Else anyone know of where I could get OSB semen?  (Deerpark do not list OSB but I have emailed them to ask just in case.)
Thanks
Sally

This lady has OSB's and breeds them http://www.thornieleecottage.co.uk/Thornielee_Cottage/Pigs.html
Though I'm not sure if she has her own boar ? I'm sure she'll be able to give you some advice too.

Thanks both for the suggestions.

I've emailed Thornielee in case they know of a boar nearer to me.  (I don't think they have one and Autoroute says they're nearly 80 miles from me.  I'd love the trip but not sure Meg would appreciate it!)

John Suttcliffe is now exclusively Saddleback, sadly for me.

Deerpark say they hope to have an OSB boar by end March.

Still looking...

Thanks again
Sally
