we have had our first litter of border terriers we could have sold them 5 times over and still getting calls and emails. we only bred from our pet bitch because we wanted to keep another pup not for a money making exercise, so why is it when viewing the pups a dog breeder (of a tottaly different breed) comes here mob handed 2 other breeders spends 2 hours here chatting to each other, well i was grilled and felt out of my depth at times i was asked what endorsements i had on my dogs ?????????????? i asked what they did when selling pups they breed one said no breeding from hers another said she had to set the prices the pups sold for and choose the stud anyway i said you pay the money and its your dog you are buying not adopting thats fine then she says as i only want to breed from her as borders have easy births and the pups sell well which will cover the costs of he shows etc on her larger breeds, she then said she knew nothing about the breed. so i let her carry on and pick out a pup and then told her i had decided she was not offering a suitable home for one of my pups needless to say she was gobsmacked, i told her i had decided the only endorsement my pups would have would be to go to loving family homes.

this experience has made me think about how some people see animals.

the pups will soon be going to their new homes 2 will be having a 50/50 life of a barge and a country home and the other one will be going to the country with a loving family home. our house will seem very quite when they have gone they have taken up lots of our time but we have all enjoyed the experience.

Good grief - and well done you. I'd have been getting quite peeved. So glad you didn't let them intimidate you. Would love to have seen her face!

Best wishes.

Ha ha, a job well done, good one. What is with these dog breeder types. I think most of them are out of the same box.

Well done, I would do the same, our pups due any day now. Trouble is, not sure how you know a good owner, I hope/ all of my last lot went to excellant homes, I certainly know 6 out of seven did as I am still in touch with them a year later and they up date me, thats good because anyone can put up with a cute little pup wee ing, poo ing and chewing every where and every thing but soooooo different when they are full size and still do pup stuff, ours usualy grow up after 18 mths of keeping anything chewable out of thier way!!!!!! Bad dog owners don't come with a lable as with bad parents, some people can know all about the breed etc and still be bad at looking after them, so,  fingers crossed that gut instinck is reliable most of the time, thats what I go on!!!!!!!! Love pups and getting ready for the hard work!!!!
