Discolated finger update
« on: January 29, 2011, 11:01:06 pm »
Well, finding I can manage quite well with my other hand - writing a big problem though, and opening the cat food cans, car door etc, but coping.

Went to the hospital again on Thursday - got there in plenty of time.  Nurse came in and said doctor wanted new x rays, so I got shipped down to x ray and sat there 45 minutes.  Back to fracture clinic, reported in there .....sat another hour.  Finally got fed up andasked when I would be seen - oh, I was last on ther list now!  Most unfair, appointment was 10am and it was 12.15 when I saw the doctor.  Surely, if I had gone to x ray when I arrived ......oh well, never mind.

Good news is,  doctor said my finger is still in place, so off came the support.  Lovely feeling, although, finger very stiff, and swollen at the knuckle, where it discolated.  Doctor said it was a serious discolation, and my finger was virtually detached ....eek.  He said no work for 3 weeks, and must go to physio.  Off I went through the hospital, waited in physio......they are going to ring me with an appoinntment, this week, next week, not sure when there is a slot.

But I am wriggling the finger best I can in the mean time.  Its very painful, and this frost weather is making it really hurt.  At least I can wear a glove now support is off - was using a sock!

Time is the best healer, funny how 1 finger has such an effect on what we do, so hard to open packets, spray stuff, do up jean fastenings etc etc. maybe some finger excerses on this forum asdfghjkl;' ;)
