Replacing EID tags
« on: January 28, 2011, 06:17:41 pm »
My dear Wiltshire Horn shearling ewes have both managed to pull out their EID tags, ripping their ears in the process (ouch!). Does anyone know what I replace them with - the next EID tag in the run and cross reference? Presumably not R tags this time?
I could wring their horrible little necks as I had a buyer for them. Not sure if she'll want them now with torn ears!

Hi,

You need R tags or Identical EID tags, u can not use the next number in the run, as then it wont match with the tag in the other ear..

Thanks

Hi,

Forgot to mention, just make sure all the tags lost / replaced are cross referenced in your flock register to avoid confusion at a later date.

Thanks

As long as they are on their birth holding you can re-tag both ears with another one in your normal sequence.  You need a red tag when they have moved holding
