Creosote inside and outside. It will kill any redmite that might be lurking, make sure you get the brush into all the nooks and crannies. And remember you have to air the coop for a few days before letting the birds back in.

Yes, definitley Creosote inside, especially on perches and where the perches meet the wall/supports (if that makes sense). If you have wooden nest boxes they as well. Ours are Creosote inside and outside.

Silly question:-

Where do you put your hens whilst 'airing' the coop?

All I've got to hand are cardboard boxes which I could put airholes & bedding in - would these do for a few days (nights)?

Thx

The coop needs to be left open, pref with the door open so the air can circulate, so where to put the hens..... depends what other buildings you have that are secure, safe and with nothing nasty in them that might harm the birds - a stable, the garden shed, the garage, the barn, outside storeroom - or for you loaded ones out there - pop them in your holiday cottage between bookings - they will definately leave you a 'deposit'. :D  :D  :D

We have a spare henhouse/coop, that is normally used for young birds/breeding/meat chicks, but we usually pain in-between batches of hens.
