Hi, l seem to have an albino chick...pink eyes...white feathers coming through..early days yet..
is this a breed fault..the chicks a light sussex..any info would be great..thankyou

I know it's early days yet, but keep us all informed, what colour is the skin? Would be interesting if it was either c^re or c^a bird.
Did you breed it from your own birds + if so how many generations of that line have you had?

My LS chicks were all pale eyed to begin with and they all have white feathers all over till they get to about 5 months when the black collar starts to show.

Thankyou for replys...these are the first chicks lve incubated...used broodys before...his/her siblings are dark eyed and have the white feathers
with the black coming through...'blinky' the pink eyed one doesnt..just white feathers...he has vision..but not as good as the others..was behind..at the beginning..but has come on leaps and bounds..and will be a pet...l have a trio of light sussex...that l incubated eggs from...

forgot to add...his skin seems pink..the same as his/hers siblings...l dont understand the abbr your using...l imagine its to do with colour genetics?

we have one white girl - offspring of one of 3 Lohman Browns (or Isas) and a black dad  so weird. Her eye colour is the same as her mums' but I don't remember if it has changed since she was born.

Not to hijack this thread... but I've ended up with a couple of 'negative light sussexes' in the last two hatchings. Mostly black with white throat, tail and silvery grey legs. I'd love to understand what's going on more!

I have no intention from breeding if he is a cockerel....as a hen..the eggs to eat would be a bonus 

He may not make it, as some research lve looked up, suggests they do not do well,

hijack away...l find it very interesting how the odd colour pops up and baffles the breeder,

l will take some photos and try to add on here...the pics lve took at the mo, arent great..as hes still little

but you can tell the difference in eye colour and feather colour to that of his siblings..the other chicks are

chocolate orpintons, in case you get confused when you see the pics

what was your cross? i got these from crossing black rock hens with light sussex cockeral

the female chicks, were exact light sussex but reversed, and the males looked like reverse dalmations - ie black with white patches,

My cross was a cuckoo marans hen with a light sussex cockerel, I think they look quite nice - we'll have to see if they lay well next.

as we are discussing genetics here - do you get with certain chook crosses the second sterile generation? with ducks you can't keep breeding crosses from European and Muscovy ducks, only works for the first generation ,the next is sterile.

No, as they are only different breeds and varieties of the same species whereas the ducks you mentioned are different species and are true hybrids.
