Please not Rodney. For collies, I think "proper" collie names are best. Jem, Skip, Keen.

Dexter?

Great name I think.  Two syllables, with two hard consonants - supposed to be good for training, although I can't vouch for that!

So are you going to be breeding mongrels then?  Aren't there enough good breeds in the world already?  There is a recession and pups are NOT selling well just now.

I gad a dog called Fido once ;D
Don't forget to have all the tests and X-rays done before you think of using him and take a look at the local rescue kennels to see all the collies encarcerated in there before you make a descision.
Also if thinking of a "cute" name don't forget they don't remain cute passed 6mnths so thats a long time to call your big bouncy collie "Fluff"! ;D

Hm, Deefer's a bit passe now - everyone knows the joke.

How about Fleet, Tag, Cap, Sweep, Glen?

From the International Sheepdog Society
"The Society permits the use of only one, simple working name for a registered dog.  Working on the fields, perhaps with more than one dog, a shepherd will be able to cope with names such as "Ben", "Meg", "Cap" or "Moss".  But imagine trying to work with "Philip", "Flossie","Pretty Boy", etc.

We are quite happy to accept non-English language names.  The test is that the names should, ideally, be single-syllable."
