Hi All,
For a number of reasons I have not managed to get my ram and a wether shorn. (Awful weather, personal injury, awful weather, let down by shearer)
I have managed to shear the ewes.

At this point I don’t know if I should shear the two since it’s officially Autumn and cold weather not far off!

Should I leave them or get on with it. I’m weather dependant because I’ve no indoor space to hold them.

I'm no expert and I'm sure someone else will advise, but could you just do tails, bums and bellies just to keep them tidy?

There is a thing called a "winter clip", which leaves 1/2-1" wool on them. Lots of folk do that for longwools.

If you can hand shear them, you can leave a covering easily. Otherwise I believe there are "winter blades" that leave a covering.

I’ve arthritis in my thumbs so a bit of hand clipping is okay but not more.

By winter clip do you mean just a concept of leaving the clip longer or is it a type of shear attachment?

Edit……Sorry. Just read your reply again. I’ll look into winter blades.
