Author Topic: Lambs out to grass and in to bed (Read 1048 times)

So as a first timer, I have kept everything inside ands awaiting tags I will be putting them out on grass this week.

My question is, should I bring them in every night? I can do it but factoring in bringing in a few sheep that don't actually need to be in - but what do you do?

I can obviously have them in if very bad weather - but ideally want the route of least hassle. Will the ewes protection be substantial?

Everything is sort of 3-4 weeks old or around 2 weeks old.

I’ve just turfed all mine out today, they aren’t coming back in. Oldest are 3 weeks, youngest 5 days.

we are 850ft
Unless we need to keep an eye on them, or they are receiving meds, they are out.
Ours do better outside, the ewes are happier and the lambs certainly are.
You wouldn't want to miss the lambs gamboling together in the sunshime !!

We are 997ft so need to get them out!

I just want to not have the hastle of them being brought in every night as i've got other life stuff happening that means it's one less thing to do.

So chuck them out and maybe provide some shelter - chuck a trailer in the field for the lambs for overnight - and check lambs regularly.

Yes no meds or anything - just feel so nervous about my babies going out into the world.

Yes I am looking at them and feeling they need the stimulation and the ewes are ready for it.

Will get them tagged and chuck them out.
