Morning from a cold & dark Staffordshire
« on: December 31, 2010, 07:40:42 am »
Hi everyone

Eek, I am supposed to say hi, think I have covered that part. Well here I am, three years after looking for a new home we have one with a half acre of land. Not much but there is potential for a couple of acres more. This being my first foray into a small holding (yes, I know a half acre isnt much but I have some cunning space usage ideas) I am a little unsure of what I am doing but hopefully there is a some advise being given here. The only animals we have are four rescued chickens  :chook: which are positively mad and spend most of thier time planning how to escape.

Have a great new year.

hi
welcome from derbyshire
we too don't have alot of land but we manage to have chickens and pigs (weaners so we can rest the land in between)
we are hoping for bees and table birds next year.....
it does make you more imaginative with the space when you don't have much.....
good luck

Welcome from Brittany.  If you are also holding down a job then 1/2 acre would be quite enough for me.

Both my wife and I are holding down very full time jobs. Working in IT, it is great to get away from a desk though and loose some of the weight...
