dont know but il have a punt - id guess the cow is worth £800, add £300 for unborn calf and £550 for calf so £1650.
i know a beef farmer in our area paid tens of thousands for his aa bull. but i thinks thats commercial strain.
i think shetland cows prices for same would be - £1300 min

firstly - how old is the cow, is she purebred AA or AA cross? How old is the calf and how far pregnant is she? (ie how long is a piece of string?)

Assuming, she's purebred (with no long pedigree), up to about 5 yrs old with @6 month old calf and @ 3 months pregnant, I would say £900+. Buying the whole family is always considerably cheaper than buying individuals. In a market they would be cheaper and also less because it's winter. I breed Herefords and have a pure bred unregistered heifer with 6 month old bull calf  and her due again in 6 months. If I put her in Selby market at this time of year, I would be lucky to get £800 for the outfit.

Yes, but it didn't sell - which illustrates the difference between what you would like for an animal and what people will pay. I would like to get £1000 for my pregnant hereford heifer + calf, but I know that at this time of year I will only get £800.

we were asked £1350 for a longhorn with calf and in calf....change of circumstance prevented us from going with it  at the time  interesting to get an overview on pricing   we could be looking again next year ;)
