Sparrowhawk

Wife went up to let the chickens out this morning  - we keep them in an old stable and she found a dead female sparrowhawk lying in the middle of the floor.

Would love to know what happened in there? Maybe she panicked when she couldnt get out?

I assume the chciekns didn't gang up and kill her?

Were there any marks on her? Had she been attacked?  The chickens would have attacked her if she had gone to the floor, possibly taken ill, or cold got her

She must have been desperately hungry to have gone in there at all, then shock at being locked in and probably attacked by hens would have finished her.  Very sad.

I find here that they follow small birds into the run which are helping themselves at the hen food. Shame... :&>
