Seems to have pneumonia now 😢
Gave him tetroxy last night, got very little milk down him this morning.
Any tips for cleaning the gunge from under the tail? :yuck:

Time to give up?

As to cleaning his backend - warm water and then vaseline to prevent further gunk sticking to it.

Anke, I keep wondering, but while there's life there's hope?
We'll see how he goes on today, maybe not getting colostrum in sooner is the problem.

I am afraid I have probably become a lot tougher recently, if I think a lamb/kid/chick is not going to be reared to at least meat size (without serious intervention and ongoing extra care) I will pts humanely and quickly early on. And if their quality of life is not there I cannot justify pushing on.

But he may be a fighter, I have had a very young male kid that I brought up from way down south having been assured by the seller that he was easy on the bottle... well he wasn't. But with a lot of perseverance, emergency treatment at the vets and finally wanting a bottle of milk when he was 7 months old... he grew to be a breed champion!
