My New Fell Pony Colt

I don't think I've mentioned it before, but I bought a Fell pony colt foal this year. I saw him on the Bracklinn Fell Pony website at 3 days old and phoned Alistair Smith, his breeder, and asked for him. Alistair said I could have him and we agreed a price. He is by Bracklinn Jackpot, who's sire is Carrock I'm Yer Man, and one of Jackpot's first crop of foals.

I've never been to see the foal, but I did buy a part-bred from Ali last year, and had seen all his brood stock then, so I knew the foal would be quality and Ali woudn't sell me anything less than that.

I was supposed to collect him in October, but Ali phoned and said he'd speaned the foal and he liked the look of him, and would I mind if he kept him through till December as he'd three shows he'd like to enter him for. I agreed as this could only be good for the pony, the stud, and for me.

So, Ali took the colt down to Cumbria last Saturday and showed him at the Fell Pony Society youngstock show. He won his class, and was overall champion! Yesterday he had him out again at Inchcoonans, and he won again and took the championship. He's out again at the NPS youngstock show at Gleneagles on 4th December, so I have high hopes for him there as well. After that I'll get him home here.

I can't believe it. I saw him for the first time on Saturday and he is one beauty. Can you tell how excited and pleased I am? His name is Bracklinn Crosbie...watch out for him. I'll have him out showing next year to try to continue his early success. ;D

If anyone is considering the purchase of a quality Fell pony, I would suggest they have a serious look at the Bracklinn Fell pony website. The Smiths are lovely, helpful people with a great devotion to their ponies and their breeding.

;D I hadn't paid for him. However, Mr Smith and I had agreed a price at the outset and, being a man of his word, he has honoured that.

I will upload some pics soon. There should be some on Animal Snappers website some time soon, as she was the official photographer at Inchcoonans yesterday.

Handsome wee fella! Do you think Sheba's past it at 23?

Look forward to seeing him in the flesh.

Pants! The NPS show at Gleneagles has been cancelled due to the snow. Now I don't know when I'll get my foal home.

He's home! ;D

I left the house at 6.15 this morning, picked him up at 8.15, and was home with him by 10.45. I can't stop looking at him.
