Hi all

I have around a quarter of an acre of woodland that was an old stone quarry it is safe to walk around, but it is steep in places accessing the area.

No cliff edges just sloping.

Would pigs cope with the slope?
I would put the ark at the top on pasture, and have the woodland as well.

I would like to go with a rare breed Tamworth if the area is suitable?

Any thoughts will be welcome

Quarter of an acre wouldn't really be enough space to support breeding and raising pigs, but I'm not sure if the original poster is thinking along those lines?

If you're raising a few for slaughter then it should be fine for young pigs to cope with as FW says but how easily will you get a trailer in to the area to load them when it's time for them to go?

It would not be for breeding it would be for a couple for slaughter.

I was thinking having there sleeping and feeding area up the top of the quarry on the grass so would be easy accessible for a trailer?

I could make the area less steep if needed in areas you can easily walk down?

Pigs are not a fan of steep and especially steep and slippery (some trailer ramps demonstrate this nicely) but without a picture it is hard to know just how steep you are talking. If you have pathways you can walk down then they will too.
