[member=1]Dan[/member] , my quotes keep displaying as in the attached jpg. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

David.

This was a long-standing problem with Chrome and the WYSIWYG view - do you use Chrome? If so, changing to the text view before posting (the last icon on the second row) should solve it.

The forum software we use is long overdue an update...

Thanks [member=1]Dan[/member] , I couldn't work out why it was an intermittent problem. It turns out that I had sometimes been using text view anyway, so that would explain it.

Case closed!

I have always had this viewing other people's posts where there is any formatting in the quoted text.  Fleecewife is the worst offender :)

I am on Safari now, nearly always on iOS, but I'm sure I had the same previously on the PC on Windows 7 (on Chrome and on IE I think.)

If I need to read what"s in the quotes, I Quote the garbled post and can then pick out the text.  Sometimes I bother to strip out the formatting and repost as a public service, sometimes I don't bother :)

I'd like to just ban Chrome from the forum, but that probably wouldn't go down very well.  :D

Unfortunately a number of other things I do online only work with Chrome, so you're damned either way Dan!

Everybody's picking on me today  :'( :'( .  When I reread my own posts they look perfect, but yes, we do use chrome.  My computer use relies more on luck than judgement, so perhaps I should try and see what you mean Dan and remedy the situation, if everyone else finds my messages unreadable.  :coat:

However, I see the same problem with some other people's posts, so how does that work if they are using chrome too?

When you say the last icon on the 2nd row, do you mean the one that says 'toggle view'?  When I click that my emojis disappear, and you know how I   my emojis  :eyelashes:

Yes, that's the one. But don't worry, your emojis will be converted to their text formats and still work - click it and see.  :)

I've just realised I first replied to this when I had my blonde bimbo hat on.  :-[ :-[ :-[   I have had this problem when quoting other people but I often do a preview of long messages and sorted anything by moving some of the text.  I haven't even looked at most of teh things on that line, so didn't know about the toggle view icon.  Thanks for that useful advice everyone.
Hope you are all staying safe and well
