Just remember if you want lambs your going to need a tup or buy in lamb.
The breed of sheep you finally decide on will cross breed with other breeds if compatable.

In your position I would have a look at what your neighbours are keeping and get those.

Getting 'rare breeds' is fine as long as you don't go out on a limb and cannot find a ram easily.

That sounds good advice.  We don't live in sheep country so finding a tup is going highly relevant.
