Changing quad to light agricultural vehicle
« on: March 05, 2019, 08:47:16 pm »
DVLA has written to me to tell me that the road tax on my quad, which we bought new last year, is due for renewal at the end of the month.  If I understand correctly, if I register it with them as a light agricultural vehicle then I don't need to pay tax on it and nor will it need an MOT when it hits 3 years old, I just have to have it insured for road use.

Can some kind person please give me a clue as to how to get it changed over??  The section of the government website that tells me I have to register it as light agricultural links to here: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration but absolutely nothing in those pages seems to be applicable.

Aaaaaand of course the moment I post that, after a good 35 minutes of going round in circles, I promptly find the answer  :roflanim:

It appears to be this - change class from Private Light Goods to Light Agricultural Vehicle:  https://www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-tax-class
