Say it with wellies
« on: October 23, 2018, 09:04:24 pm »

It's Mrs Womble's birthday soon and her wellies are leaking, so I bought her a new pair (don't worry, I've got her something else as well).

I can't think of an imaginative way to give them to her though. Last time I arranged flowers in them, so I've got to beat that somehow this time. Any ideas?

Fill them with her favourite chocolates? Lindor balls (esp white ones) would do it for me...

Set up a treasure trail/hunt with the wellies as the prize - wrapped in gold paper - her gold medal

Fill them with little individually wrapped items such as lip balm, hand cream, key fob.

In my family, we tend to be a bit more evil, so I would do something like freeze them in a block of ice and give her a hair dryer to thaw them with.

Pah ! You softie, 2 5p carrier bags to line the old ones , you could go overboard and get spare bags if you really loved her.

I would have thought a new pair of wellies is quite sufficient. Perhaps some insoles to go with them. (Unless it’s a significant birthday and you could up it to socks).

Oh and there is me having just had to stump up for a new pair for myself !
… my Aigle Parcours just sprung a small leak  :(

I hope those new wellies are at least as good as Aigle Parcours, Womble!!!

Well, chocolates in one and champagne in the other tops flowers.  But I’m with SD, I’d sooner have practical gifts and or ones which show a little understanding things that I love.

Many years ago, I was going to be visiting the then boyfriend at his parents’ place at Christmastime, so his mum had asked him what I’d like for a present.  I ran an ancient Moggy Minor at the time.  “I know she’s after a grease gun,” he’d replied. “That’s not very feminine, can’t you think of anything else?”, his mum had said.  After pondering, he’d replied, “Weeeellll.... she has mentioned she’d like some axle stands.”

If Mrs Womble is :spin: spinning these days, what about some lovely prepped fibre for a treat?

You're with the wrong woman!!!  I'd have loved a decent socket set!!!  I've got a half decent one that got left behind when someone moved... which does the job I guess.

I had a fabulous collection of socket sets and spanners.  Whitworth, Imperial and Metric.   :censored: ex-hub nicked them when we parted - I’d owned them for more than a decade before I met him.  :furious: :furious:
