Today I had to have Chaz pts as he had had a stroke and the whole back end had gone.

I overdosed Chaz with Metacam to relieve any pain before the vet could get to us.

Because he had a failing heart the vein was hard to find, the vet tried several times before he was successful.

I lay beside Chaz cuddling him and talking softly to him the whole time.

Whilst I was still crying the vet gave me the bill.

sleep well Chaz, I completely understand you dosing him with Metacam... we had to do the same for old Barney boy.
what an outrageous bed-side manner that vet has.  And everything on there is nearly double the price of ours - find yourself a new one!

Run Free Chaz. Totally know where you are coming from with the crying bit. It's so unfair that they live such short lives.

Might be worth going to the papers about the vet too.

So sad, I know what it's like when we put Bruce to sleep last year, still makes me feel emotional but at least no more suffering, and I thought Happy Hippy said a virtual Lick up the arse to the vet!!! just read it again and saw it was kick, no emotions some people

I am sorry to hear of your loss.  I am shocked again today by the behavious of some vets!  Common sense would tell any decent being that having a loved one PTS is a very distressing time and for some people losing a pet is worse than losing a relative!  Surely they need people skills for their job, with behaviour like that Id say they were in the wrong job!!

I know a lot of people switch on auto pilot during stressful times, they do anything practical as their emotions switch off......Sadly, I remember oh too well the morning my mum died in my home, I just left her to sit quietly a moment and my now ex started asking me what I am going to do with her money etc!!! all I wanted was a hug and a cup of tea!!!!!!!
