I suppose if you ate an intact billy goat, that would taste "goaty".  Those I have eaten have been castrated billy goats, and definitely did not taste funny.  If milk and cream is cooled correctly, it should not taste goaty, but yes, it does have a stronger taste than cows milk, until you get used to it.

There is a farmers market not far from us, and a lady has a goat meat stall, selling chops etc.  She will also buy excess billy kids from people, and rears them free range until around 9months I think, so its a nice life for them.  I am sure she has 150 goats, including breeding goats, so not sure what she does with all the milk!!

:goat: we had goat for tonights dinner it went down very well as always.

we once went to a bbq and the goat that was bbq'ed stank the place out as it was a entire billy that was 3 years old and yes it tased of goat, we casterate all ours so no problems.

if anyone is interested in ordering goat meat for later this year please feel free to ask any questions.

We are raising our billyboy (as he is known, although not a billy anymore..) for meat, as I felt that I wouldn't want to kill him straight away. We had made that decision before ours kidded. I do think however that if you have a large number of goats kidding and milk is your business/main aim in kkeping goats, then it is quite difficult to raise any boys (costs, time, accommodation)... we do need HFW, JO or somebody similar to take up the cause of goat meat!

But I don't have a telly, so maybe blessing in disguise that I didn't see the programme...
