Something certainly seems to have gone very wrong here - and in full public view.  I hope this leads to changes at the Met, and I would think that the relatives have a no-brainer civil case for compensation

The guy is nothing but a bloody thug in a uniform. If anyone whould have done what that bas***d did they would have been inside now.

Discrace to the uniform, no wonder people hate and distrust the police.

If you want to be a thug and get away with it, you have 2 choices:- join the mafia or join the police.

In fairness there are quite a few good coppers, but as long as the system protects the bad ones we can't trust 'em.

I think it's a case on "one bad apple" - the policeman on trial seems to have been a bad apple, but it wouldn't do to apply the same to all policemen. Our bobbies around here seem fine.

One of them is helping with the Festival - he says he likes working here, in an area where folk still like the police. From the chats I've had with him, they do a difficult job often under difficult circumstances, even here.

I'm certainly pretty happy with the Police - and it's depressing when something like this calls the whole force into disrepute.

if only people who weren't policemen didn't break any laws and beat people up for no reason... then we wouldn't need the police anyway, and they somehow manage to get let off too
