At first, I gave the cop the benefit of the doubt, but after what I read in the papers today, Im amazed that he was ever re-employed by the force. I read that there is going to be an internal enquiry but whether they will have the balls to fire him will remain to be seen although he is obviously a liability.
Talking of corruption, is anyone watching "Line of Duty" on BBC2? Its absolutely fantastic. If you've missed it and its repeated, its a must to watch.

1400 people have been killed by police since 1990, not one has been prosecuted for manslaughter.
your 8 times more likely to be killed by a cop than by a terrorist.

I am not surprised and sometimes you feel that there is not an even playing field in cases like this. His background does not look too good, but I think this type of old-school hardman cop is fairly thin on the ground now. I do think this sort should not be protected and should be weeded out.
However in my experience which is independent and quite extensive, police in nearly all cases make great efforts to do their difficult job thoroughly, with consideration, with a surprising degree of sensitivity, and with a surprising lack of violence.
Some small-holders are even police officers, no doubt each occupation providing some illumination and assistance with the other.

The ptb are , as usual , setting the rules . One set for us , another for them .  This one is just too blatent to accept though . Sickening video of an innocent man being killed by an evil bully . This case will become a line in the sand , one step to far .
After the Jean Charles DeMenezes case , the Mark Duggan one and now this one , the plod are now little more than terminators , above the laws they are paid to uphold .
Very soon the revenue collecters will have machine guns ! The shite will hit the fan . They tazer people , hit people with iron bars , set dogs on people , shoot people or just smash them into the ground and get away with it .
And for anyone that says "if you are not doing anything wrong , you are safe " , ask Ian Thomlinson or JCD do they feel safe ?
And some people ask why i want nothing to do with the system .

Its a tricky one if you werent there and didnt know all the facts that have come out now but on face value the guy looked like he was deliberately slowly walking across the front of the police line and should have been moved.
The force used looks a bit aggressive but did the policeman expect to kill the guy?  on balance - no - not in my opinion anyway.

I know what you are saying but the Policeman still acted incorrectly and when you see about his past history I think he was a bully in a uniform. I think that there are policemen that do throw their weight around in the same way we have thugs doing so. Tomlinson looked on camera to be acting awkwardly but two wrongs never make a right.
On the tv programmes there always seems to be a loss of control in some of the town centres at closing time etc, That must be a soul distroying job dealing with violent drunks.
I believe the Police in this country are changing for the worst and its maybe the fault of politicians and accountants, or is it a different quality of person is now being employed?
One thing for sure is that I will not have the answers.

this isnt a defence in law! if i run someone over and they die, its manslaughter whether i expected to kill them or not.

I didnt dispute the action of the policeman was heavy handed but I think if I put myself in the same situation and with the same pressure I would have probably done something similar because it looked to me that he was walking slowly & deliberately in the way of a serious situation.
I dont think it is a defence in law but was there intent to kill or even seriously injure? - i dont think so.  I think he will have been surprised that he even fell over at all.

I dont want to defend the policeman because it is obvious in hindsight that he was in the wrong but there is always 2 sides to every story.

I wouldn't take sides on this personally, but this has been through a jury trial.  You disagree with the outcome but that's the way it is.

The word "corrupt" is inappropriate, for sure.
Being certain just means you haven't got all the facts

The guy is nothing but a bloody thug in a uniform. If anyone whould have done what that bas***d did they would have been inside now.

Discrace to the uniform, no wonder people hate and distrust the police.
