Hi folks,
After five years of trying to make it around the whole country, meeting all of you lovely people who attended personally, and, as a vet, being primarily focused on health and welfare, with less availability of grassland management and fencing expertise, I am absolutely thrilled this year to introduce to you Chloe McCulloch and her team.
They are my colleagues at SAC Consulting and are part of the Consulting Solutions branch (formerly known to some of you as Farm Business Services) - a separate area to Vet Services, although we work closely together.
This fantastic team have been able to put together comprehensive small farmer/smallholder start-up courses to include grassland management, fencing and other skills, along with a little of the health and welfare things I have been providing (you will probably meet one of my Dumfries/Ayr vet colleagues at the meetings). And, as usual, it is all free.
The meetings are a result of increased funding by the Scottish Government. This is partly down to the support of all of you over the past five years your demonstration of commitment, and your uptake of smallholder and small farmer services, has helped to create this service. Thank you to you all, and congratulations on being such a dedicated and enthusiastic bunch to work with. I really enjoy it.
The first two are in Ayr and Dumfries but if you are further north, get in touch with Chloe and the team to request similar meetings near you we have branches all over the country and we can pass on requests so that areas with large demand can be noted. Im afraid funding is only possible at present for people in Scotland, since it is a Scottish Government initiative, but for our friends south of the border, please contact the team and let them know if you are interested as some other arrangement may be possible.
BOOKING IS NECESSARY. Details on next post, because the flyers are too large! And of course, I will be continuing to provide talks and webinars around the country on top up subjects of great importance, such as worming, health, liver fluke, foot care, poultry diseases, etc as always, to allow you all to build your knowledge over time and to have the happiest, healthiest animals possible.
Come and see us at our stall at the Smallholder Festival if you are around! Im doing a free talk on sheep foot care in the ring as well.
Best Wishes,
Caroline
